2001 Sighting Reports

Date: January 1, 2001.
Location: Lake Ramsey, Sudbury, Ontario.

On Monday, January 1, 2001, I received the following e-mail:

'Hello Michel, and Happy New Year,

I understand that you are a member of MUFON, and live in the Sudbury area. I have long had an great interest in UFO's, and am always reading articles and watching documentaries regarding these. I live here in Sudbury.

I would like to know if you have had any reports of a strange occurrence early this morning (New Year's Day) in Sudbury.

I was driving home early this morning, with my son and parents with me in the car. We were travelling north on Paris street in the vicinity of the General Hospital, at around 1:15 a.m., when I noticed this huge light in the sky, over Lake Ramsay, somewhere around the hospital. At first I thought it was a helicopter trying to land...it seemed that close, but it remained stationary...it was very large and bright...there were no flashing lights on it. I pointed it out to my son and parents, and we just watched for approximately 30 seconds (after I had already observed it for a previous 30 seconds)...Suddenly, we noticed a trail of smoke rise directly upward from this light, and the light simply faded away...just disappeared right from where it was...

It was a crystal clear night out, and I have never seen anything like this.

I just wanted to let you know about this, and wonder if anyone else had seen it, or what you make from it.'

Thank you,

Sincerely,

DC

Date: Monday, January 1, 2001.
Location: Manitoulin Island, Ontario.

On Sunday, January 7, 2001, I received the following e-mail:

'On January 1st, 2001 between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. (I believe, I can collaborate with another eyewitness). Me and my girlfriend's father seen two UFO's over Manitoulin Island. I was facing SW. They appear to be bright yellowish lights and they didn't move. Each had its own shape. One circular and the other was shaped like a comet with two tails and a round head. The sky was clear and the sun was setting. They looked like they were on the edge of earth's atmosphere. I video taped about 30 to 60 seconds. Me and a friend kept an eye on the UFO's as we traveled west on the island. And as we dipped into valleys we couldn't see them (we were not in a line of sight). We watched them for about 5 more minutes then we lost track of them. They appeared to change into a circle as we traveled west. I have them on 8 MM video.

I asked a local store owner about UFO's there and he said he sees them all the time but is afraid to tell anyone in fear they might think he is crazy (it's a small town).

Does anyone know of any similar sightings on this island or around the world? What should I do with this video?'

Thanks.

Date: Wednesday, January 17, 2001.
Location: Near Lively, 25 minutes west of Sudbury, Ontario.

At around 7:25 a.m., a man (DC) and his wife were heading west on Highway 17 when his wife suddenly said: 'What's that?' They watched as a bright white ball of light, moving at treetop level, crossed the highway from left to right (south to north). Their view of the object was partial blocked by one of the three transport trucks that were ahead of them. DC said that the driver of the transport in front of them must have seen it because the brake lights came on. He was hoping that the truckers would pull over at the truck stop near Espanola so that he could chat with them, but they never did.

Date: day, October 31, 2000.
Location: Nairn Centre, Ontario.

On Monday, April 23, 2001, I received the following e-mail:

'Hi ufoman

Read an article in the paper a while back including your e-mail address. I watch a bright light go all the way across the sky east to west to the South on Halloween night about 7:00 PM. Never saw anything about it in the news and wondered if you had anything reported. Let me know. This occurred in Nairn Centre, Ontario.'

Date: Unknown.
Location: From Parry Sound to Timmins, Ontario.

On Sunday, April 29, 2001, I received the following e-mail:

'Hello Michel,

My name is EP. Your name was given to me by SB, who recently attended one of your seminars. I was the head of mining operations and technical at Falco-Jarvis from 1942-1957 here in the Sudbury district. Our operations ran from Parry Sound to as far north as Timmins. During these years, my fellow workers and I have come across things that I would consider to be out of the ordinary. Perhaps to someone of your stature they would not seem so strange, but they sure were not normal to me. Most of these phenomena occurred in and around freshly blasted open pit mines. At first, we thought we had thieves on the premises, but when guards were dispatched, the minerals still went missing without a trace. The only way out was through the front gate, and with up to 15 personnel at the gate, no one could have gotten out. I have also seen strange-looking objects, and found lead-type pellets scattered across the areas where the missing minerals were reported stolen. If you are interested please e-mail me back at this account. I honestly believe someone is monitoring my e-mail.'

Yours sincerely,

E. J. P.

Date: Wednesday, May 16, 2001.
Location: Ottawa, Ontario.

On Thursday, May 17, 2001, I received the following e-mail:

'I would like to report that I seen something strange last night, being the 16th may 2001. I live in Ottawa, Ont. and this I seen over the Ottawa River close to Deschain rapids at an elevation of about 300 feet to 450 feet. First, I saw one light moving back and forth from right to left for about a 15-min span. I thought it was strange and asked my roommate to come up and look and we thought that this could be a helicopter. Then it was joined by a second light with the same appearance so we said that they must be helicopters looking for something because we can see their lights getting brighter as they searched for about 20 min. And when they started moving towards the Ottawa airport, we could no longer see them, but I could not stop looking in that direction. And about 5 min later, I saw a very dim light flying in a strange pattern. I can't use the word pattern because it flew all over the place; it was hard to keep my sight on it but this was very interesting to me and I had to know where it was going, so I watched it fly toward the airport. I could see it until it was over the airport and a plane took off into the air. Then it was still until the plane was about 1 min into flight, then I could no longer see it.

PS. I wish I had a video camera.
