Clare Booth Luce was a playwright and former U.S. Congresswoman who was among dozens of witnesses who sighted a UFO in Rome in 1954. Luce was serving as U.S. Ambassador to Italy when the sighting occurred on October 28. A luminous sphere sped across the sky, followed by a trail of Angels' Hair. Luce stated, "I saw something, but I don't know what it was."
