Daniel
Sheehan is a 1967 Honors graduate
of Harvard College in the field of American Government
and International Law where he studied under Dr.
Henry Kissinger and others. He was Harvard
College's Nominee for the Rhodes scholarship to Oxford
University in 1967. In 1970, he graduated
from Harvard School of Law,
having written his Honors Thesis in the field of Constitutional
Law.
Sheehan
is the former Editor of The
Harvard Civil Rights Law Review at Harvard
Law School and the former Director
of the Nigerian-Biafran
Relief Commission in Africa. He was
Co-Counsel to The
New York Times in The
Pentagon Papers Case against the Richard
Nixon Administration. Former
General Counsel to the United
States Native American Rights Committee of the National
Office of the American
Civil Liberties Union and
amicus curiae Counsel to the American
Indian Movement at The
Wounded Knee Trials in South Dakota. He
served as Chief Tribal Counsel
to the National Office of the American
Civil Liberties Union in New York City
for the Ten Rocky Mountain States.
Mr.
Sheehan is the former Chief Legal
Counsel to the United
States Jesuit Headquarters' National Office of Social
Ministry in Washington, D.C.; Chief
Counsel on Karen
Silkwood v. The Kerr-McGee Nuclear Corporation;
Chief Counsel on
The Iran/Contra Civil Case
against the Reagan/Bush Administration; Chief
Counsel in the Three
Mile Island Litigation in Pennsylvania;
Special Counsel to the Office
of Attorney F. Lee Bailey in the Watergate
Burglary Case.
From
1973 to 1975, Attorney Sheehan studied
for his Masters of Divinity Degree and his Ph.D. in Christian
Social Ethics at Harvard Divinity School under
Dr. Ralph potter, the Chairman of the Department
of Judeo-Christian Social Ethics at Harvard
University and the Social Ethicist
of the World Council of Churches.
Attorney
Sheehan has been the Presenter
of Advanced Seminars in Constitutional Law and American
Politics at Harvard University, Yale Law School and Notre
Dame School of Law in Washington, D.C. and,
at the undergraduate level, at the University of California
at Santa Barbara.
In
1999, Mr. Sheehan served as the
Director of the Strategic Initiative To Identify the New
Paradigm of the State of the World Forum of The Gorbachev
Foundation in San Francisco.
Mr.
Sheehan now lives in San Rafael, California with his two
sons, Danny-Paul and Daegan, his nephew Christopher and
his wife of 23 years, Sara M. Nelson, the former National
Labor Secretary of the National
Organization for Women in Washington, D.C.
